Having chaired the cabinet meeting, chief minister Zoramthanga on Friday approves the Mizoram Liquor Prohibition Bill, 2019. The Bill would be introduced in the state Assembly during the Budget session starting from March 20, the official added.
Earlier in the state assembly election in November last year, the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) promised to ensure total prohibition of liquor in the state, if voted to power.
The step conveys a silent message to the ‘lawmakers’ in the neighboring countries, reminding them of their duties in compliance with the constitution of the state.
